ACTION Teams

ADORE

Duties include preparing the sanctuary to enhance the worship experience for each participant. This includes everything from decorating the church for special services to making sure there is a workable pencil in the pew. Preparing the lord’s supper, placing it on the altar and properly removing it, is a great honor experienced by the Adore Team. We are responsible for placing the proper paraments on the altar as well as caring for pastor’s robes. We schedule all the volunteers that usher, greet or read as well as scheduling the youth acolytes. We are the team behind the scene preparing the sanctuary for each service.

CONTRIBUTE

The Contribute Team is about Christians being willing to give of themselves, giving their time, talents, gifts and treasures back to God and one another in thankfulness for what God has done first for us. Christian stewardship is the free and joyous activity of the child of God and God’s family, the church, in managing all of life and life’s resources for God’s purposes. Specific activities include: Encouraging Christians to be good stewards of their time, talents and treasures in service to God and one another; Provide opportunities for Christians to learn about how God has blessed each Christian with gifts and talents; record and track member contributions.

TEACH

The Teach Team is a dynamic group that had the spiritual growth and development of the entire congregation as the focal point of all we do. We are the driving force for evaluating new curriculum and programming for adults, youth and children. We plan for and coordinate with the other ACTION teams to provide materials and qualified personnel for activities which include Sunday school, youth retreats, VBS, seder meals, and mission trips. We welcome new members that have a heart for spurring on the faith of believers and planting seeds of faith.

INTERACT

The Interact Team is about fun and doing things together with our fellow Mount olive members. In doing fun activities we hope to promote a strong spirit of unity and togetherness with joy and encouragement among the members of our congregation. some of the activities we have done in the past include Minnow races, Trivia Challenge, 50’s sock hop, Chili Cook-off and Cake Decorating Contest, Advent and Lenten Dinners, Movie night, Advent by Candlelight, night out at the I-Cubs, and Mother-Daughter spring Fling. We are always looking for more members who have a heart for fellowship and enjoy planning fun activities for all ages. We meet the first Thursday of each month at the church.

OUTREACH

The Outreach Team invites participation from all who have an interest in reaching our community and world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We are a very active team, and here is a partial listing of our main activities. Every September, together with the school staff and parents, we walk in the Beaverdale Fall Festival parade (and hand out great stuff). In October, we help organize the Indoor-Outdoor Trunk o’ Treat event on beggar’s night eve (Oct. 29). Right before Christmas, we organize a group to go caroling to the congregation’s shut-ins. In the spring we organize events to draw the community, and friends and neighbors, to Lenten, Holy Week and Easter events and worship services. Join us! Reach out into our community to let the light of Christ shine.

NURTURE

The nurture team ministers to shut-ins, elderly in nursing homes, prisoners, patients in the hospital with caring visits to pray and build friendships.

Types of programs:

Ministry to shut-ins, nursing homes, prisons, hospitals; angel tree; food bank; assist with hospitality for funerals, weddings and other occasions; send cards; encouragement phone calls; parish nurse ministry; Luther Care Services Auxiliary.
